That modesty and that sentiment seems to be shared by all the survivors of Easy Company, 506th PRI, and many of them can’t beget succor the tears as they convey it. One of the stout benefits of this righteous series was the closeup interviews of the staunch men portrayed, those improbable faded seamed faces, breaking at last with emotion as they engage their experiences and the esteem of their comrades and the afflict of loss of other friends. It moves me greatly, and I’m blissful the Extras in this residence has an extended documentary re-tracing the time-frame of the film with these valid veterans recalling the action we’ve seen re-created.

Brought with loving care and fanatic attention to detail by producers Steven Spielberg & Tom Hanks and their carefully chosen band of producers, directors and actors, this is an unsentimental, near-documentary telling of the anecdote of Easy Co. from training to D-Day, Hedge Row fighting, Operation Market Garden, Bastogne, into Germany, liberation of Death Camps, and the consume of Berchesgarden & Hitler’s Eagle’s Nest.

Throughout it all, the aim has been to mutter it straight and acquire it moral. They have done so in powerful style. The truth HAS enough drama, and the various episodes direct it. We net to know these men and care about them. We marvel at their endurance and the plan they go about getting the job done, professionally, and with matter-of-fact, everyday courage. It is a fair tribute to the Citizen Soldiers who won the war.

With 10 episodes and lots of extra goodies, presented within an exceptional package, there is impartial too distinguished to review here. Some memorable moments: the harrowing jump into the explosive, tracer-lit night skies of Normandy; the assault on the 88’s; Winter’s killing the young German; the episode dedictated to the Medic; the ugly artillery barrage on the men in the snowy forest of Bastogne; the shock of the farmer’s wife on seeing the closeup hand-to-hand killing of the German by “Bull”; and finally, the incredibly consuming scenes of the liberation of the Concentration Camp, and the final days of Easy at the War’s waste.

These last episodes are all the more considerable because we have followed Easy Co. and these men and have seen the death so random and arbitrary around and among them that a boring emotional tension has been built that we now realize with the intensity of anger/pity/horror at the Camps and the bittersweet joy and subsequent farewell of VE day.

I could cite stout moments by each individual actor, and nicely played and effectively understated but powerfully emotional scenes but suffice it to say this is an ensemble share with sterling performances throughout. The level-headed power of the different episodes underscores how wonderfully written the entire part is, and with corresponding top-notch direction and production values.

A one-of-a-kind production, having the time to voice the memoir with detail and care, and with all alive to doing honor to the men who lived it. And finally, there are those men, bringing it all assist to the reality of loyal lives lived. Exceptional stuff.

Band of Brothers is an dread enthralling and visually comely tribute, not only to Easy Company, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, but to the “Greatest Generation.” But for their sacrifices, would we allotment the freedoms we so appreciate and covet to our vests today! Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg deserve all of the awards and accolades they received for bringing this chronicle to HBO and now this amazing DVD box place!

Part 1 – Currahee – Currahee is a unbelievable beginning to this unprecedented HBO miniseries. Outside of the movie “Saving Private Ryan” there has never before been such a realistic series such as this one. Currahee poignantly highlights the training that was significant for the newly designed Airborne Infantry. While some may reflect that Captain Sobel was a complete idiot, in all truth, his combat skills were obviously lacking however, as a trainer, he assign Easy Company in a very capable location as a well trained unit.

Part 2 – Day of Days – D-Day has arrived and Easy Company makes the jump that they’ve been preparing two years for. As history unfolds, the German flak has caused nearly every plane to miss their designated descend zone. 1LT Winters finds he’s in Normandy, lost his weapon and his company. He finally arrives at the assembly spot and is given the mission to hold out a German artillery site. Day of Days is an friendly episode that doesn’t miss out on 1LT Winters depth of emotions as he loses his first soldier in combat.

Part 3 – Carentan – Easy Company is ordered in to lift the French village of Carentan. While encountering only minor resistance, they win light casualties. After successfully taking the town, they’re ordered to fade on to the next just. En route, they encounter the German force sent to retake Carentan. They stalemate for the evening, expecting to forge a paunchy assault in the morning. The Germans have other plans though and counter attack in the morning with a combined force of mechanized infantry and armor. Fortunately for Easy Company, they are finally rescued by the 2nd Armored Division. Shortly after this action they are lucky enough to score some R&R relieve in England. The note ends with orders support to the front and a very poignant final scene to yet another amazing episode.

Part 4 – Replacements – Replacements jumps forward to September and Easy Company is on R&R in England. They’re called into Operation Market Garden. Easy Company is given the mission to hold Eindhoven, Holland. They were told they would be running into light resistance. Operation Market Garden turns into a colossal failure and the Allied Forces are turned assist with heavy casualties. Sgt “Bull” Randleman is quite downhearted enough to pick up stuck slow enemy lines. “Replacements” is another valid episode.

Part 5 – Crossroads – Crossroads is one of the best shows of the whole miniseries. Captain Winters, due to the costs of war, garners advancement from Easy Company Commander to Battalion Executive Officer. The episode is shown, through the eyes of Captain Winters as he is preparing a relate on the actions of October 5th when he led his company in the attack of a German SS space. The more telling share is later in the episode when he gets an R&R in Paris and the horrors of war accumulate up to him.

Part 6 – Bastogne – To quote Captain Winters, “we’re paratroopers; we’re supposed to be surrounded.” Bastogne tells the sage, from Easy Companies point of conception, about the 101st Airborne Infantry being surrounded by German forces and holding the line during the Battle of the Bulge. This is also the combat action where the Commanding General of the 101st Airborne replied to the German Commanders question for their surrender, “nuts.”

Part 7 – The Breaking Point – January 1945 and Easy Company is on the verge of attacking the Germans in Foy, Belgium. Due to heavy resistance, Easy Company endures nearly a month of being barraged by German artillery on the front line. This episode is very telling as far as the how demoralizing the artillery can be.

Part 8 – The Last Patrol – Easy Company is on the front line in the Alsacian town of Haguenau. They now have the sense that the war is coming to a cessation, as they are unprejudiced across the river from Germany. The brigade commander orders a patrol across the border to accept German prisoners. This episode again brings to the forefront the emotions of the soldiers as they again are counted on to finish their mission!

Part 9 – Why We Fight – This episode is clearly the most poignant of the series as Easy Company finds and liberates a concentration camp. Although there had been rumors of these concentration camps, no once could truly comprehend what they were about until they were faced with them! This episode alone should’ve garnered several awards.

Part 10 – Points – Easy Company takes Eagles Nest, Hitler’s mountaintop fortress. The company settles in as an occupation force, yet expecting to be redeployed to the Japanese warfront. A very emotional what happened to several of the units members after the war. Overall, this episode is a astonishing conclusion to the “Band of Brother.”

The conception of “Stranger Than Fiction” appealed to me the moment I first heard of it. Harold Crick, played by Will Ferrell, wakes up one day and hears a stutter. An omniscient narrator is relating his life with precision and no one can hear that hiss but himself. It turns out that the declare is Emma Thompson, playing a distinguished author who is actually writing a unusual about a character named Harold Crick. And it’s the same Harold Crick. What is being attach down in fiction is also concurrently happening in right life. It’s a tricky understanding, one that I felt might be impossible to pull off effectively. Well, not only does “Stranger Than Fiction” pull it off–it succeeds grandly as a surprisingly thoughtful, silly, and inspiring contemplation of life. For Harold must immediately confront his mortality when the narrator informs him/us that he will soon die!

The complicated anecdote of the film is pulled off brilliantly. The overlapping structure well-known to beget the momentum and cohesion of the film must be attributed to a clever, intricate screenplay. Literate, witty, and real–it’s a right treat. Lots of intelligent effects attend to pull the two worlds together making even the most mundane moments of Harold’s life visually compelling. The movie’s construction is arresting and savory.

Will Ferrell reins in his typical “overgrown kid” persona, and plays Harold as a dependable guy. It’s refreshing and while I’ve never considered him a leading man type–his tentative romance with Maggie Gyllenhaal (while a bit of a stretch) is played very credibly and sweetly. Dustin Hoffman, as a literature professor helping Harold glance what book he’s in, is having a substantial time. But it’s Emma Thompson that stole my heart. As the author, she is a complete neurotic mess–but as she begins to realize what is happening, something in her transforms. Her character provides mighty of the film’s insight and it’s most powerfully dramatic acting. It’s a deft balancing act, and as usual–she hit all the legal marks.

After a reach perfect movie, we have to bring both stories of Harold to an demolish. The movie turns into a poignant examination of sacrifice. If Thompson kills Harold in her original, it will be recognized as a colossal portion of literature. If she lets him live, the modern will be unprejudiced another routine bit of entertainment. This art versus commercialism angle is absolutely animated, and also surprising since it is raised so tedious in the film. There are moments of proper power as everyone faces valuable life decisions–but these aren’t untrue “lessons,” they are splendid emotion that the film has subtly earned.

Ultimately, the ending is exactly what the film wants it to be. While I didn’t earn it the most satisfying choice–it is perfect for the movie because by this point the film itself is mirroring the unusual within the film. It’s a clever bit of trickery and very unique. I admired “Stranger Than Fiction” very remarkable and would give it 4 1/2 stars as an novel and incandescent treat. KGHarris, 11/06.

A disclaimer: I’ve got a high tolerance for quirky and this film certainly qualifies as such. I loved it, but I adore quirky films a lot more than the mainstream moviegoer.

I went to look this movie on a whim and so I didn’t quite know what I was getting into. But a few minutes into it I impartial KNEW that it was going to be one of my favorites. And, indeed, it is one of the best films I’ve seen in the theater in a while. I smiled throughout the whole of it.

The narrative is fresh. The characters are challenging. And the residence is so very random that it objective works.

Now I’m one of those people who ALWAYS questions the logistics of say *time travel* and/or *magic doorways* but this film was so very charming that I wasn’t bothered by how incredibly non-sensical it seems: an author *creates* Will Ferrell’s character and can resolve if he lives or dies with her *typewriter*?

Oy.

The fact of the matter is, it’s a fairy epic of sorts for a unique and original society. It’s filmed in such an aesthetically astute manner. The actors are at their very best and most endearing. And the writing is wholly intriguing.

It’s NOT your typical Will Ferrell movie and if you go into it expecting fart jokes and prat falls, you’ll be disappointed. But if you go into it with an inaugurate mind and a receptive heart, I imagine you’ll be quite touched by the ideas it’s trying to negotiate in its sweet and clumsy procedure.

To me, this is one of the best Jet Li movies. Or, may as well call it one of the best movies. It has a lot of humor and wisdom in it. However, as someone jokes that dubbing is the eighth sin, the dubbing in this movie, possibly to match the lip movement, has the script modified. The humor was lost, as well as the wisdom. I compared an Asian release with the US release: the script as well as the English subtitle are modified in the US release. I highly recommend this movie to you, except that it may be best to bag the Asian release. I also checked that my Asian release has the English subtitle which is very end to what the actors and actresses say in Chinese. Also one thing about the US release is that the song is taken out from the movie. We usually derive a French song or Italian song in a foreign movie. How approach we don’t score a Chinese song in a Chinese movie? The fresh Chinese song is very righteous to the events of the movie. My advice remains: the Asian release of this movie probably can give you more enjoyment than the modified one.

This movie is obliging. The fights and unrealistic and stylish, and the anecdote is gracious. But there is no excuse for what happened to this movie. We live in America. We are one of the most diverse nations in the world. The localizers of this movie seem to consider that Americans don’t know anything about, and don’t care about, Chinese language and culture. As a result all the novel language and music has been nick, and there is only a spoken English version. This is inexcusable, especially for a DVD release. I have no predicament with a dub, but on a DVD you MUST include both. It is a reliable movie, but on principle I will not give it a passing grade on this element alone. I bought a DVD player so I would not have any problems getting the subtitled version of a movie, and then they pull this crap! Please do not abet dub only releases. Please go to … the auctions amazon and glean a DVD of Tai Chi Master. This is the Chinese version of this film. It will have English subtitles. The image quality is worse, but to have the legal language and the loyal deny of Jet Li, it is worth it.

Good:

* Intense blood and gore.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Battle Angel! Click Here

* Deep storyline (easy to understand) .

* Frosty character desing (so witness alike to the anime in Slay Bill) .

* Sizable action scenes with kindly animation (there were like 3 or 4 action scenes) .

Buy,Download, Or Stream Battle Angel! Click Here

Bad:

* The graphics were kind of smudgy.

* Murky anecdote.

The narrative is simple because is about this robot girl called Gally who want to become an assasin for hire so she can score a better life but later the problems become more complicated.

This anime is not those who seeks for action-packed, this is more like a violent movie but is peaceful a classic and very recomended for anime fans.

P.S: The english dub was Big but intention to overacted at times, I deem the voices were better than the acting but is worth to hear, so don’t pay to powerful attention to the other people because is not THAT unpleasant. In fact! this is one of the best dubs I ever heard since Princess Mononoke and Twilight of the Darkmaster.

Adios!

Unique, radiant, and well story-lined.
This is number one in my anime collection. Fair about every abominable review gotten for this movie was because of people who read the manga and therefor had major bias since a movie will unbiased about never be the diagram you pictured it would be from reading it.

For an hour program this felt like it ran longer, and that’s a Noble thing! Mozart’s music accompanies this documentary with Kenneth Branagh’s perfect narration and the blend is very effective. I felt like I learned more about the man who wrote these masterpieces and the hell he was living while he wrote them than from any other program or book on the subject. My heart filled with such emotion several times throughout this program and that is a rare feat so I must give it 5 stars. The best Mozart related DVD since Amadeus, and alot of that was dramatic license. This is the closest you’ll gain to vivid the soul of Mozart. You’ll feel so dim at the slay of this dvd when at 35 Mozart died and left so noteworthy genuis unfulfilled and only known by God. He was the creative process personified through music.

“It’s retrospectively that we’ve constructed this account of this fantastic angel with a supernatural talent, who then was taken away from us too soon.”

The above quotation comes from the beginning of this documentary that presents the life and works of whom many mediate to be the greatest composer who ever lived, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756 to 1791) . Besides learning about the man unhurried the music (this film does a edifying job of unraveling over 200 years of fiction and anecdote), we also derive to hear, through genuine performances, dazzling extracts of his music.

Throughout this documentary are brief comments made by respected others such as pianists, conductors, psychologists, musicologists, historians, and opera directors. Beware that some of these comments are not in English so perform certain you turn on the English subtitles.

This film is narrated by the actor (known especially for his Shakespearean talents) Kenneth Branagh.

What amazed me about this film is that, despite being only an hour long, it covers an fantastic amount regarding Mozart’s life. With the addition of right performances of Mozart’s works, this documentary is also incredibly toothsome and not ever plain.

I will give Mozart’s significant works below and include a specific extract example(s) of such a work from this film in parenthesis:

(1) Operas (The Marriage of Figaro, Don Giovanni, Cosi fan tutte, Die Entfuhrung aus dem Serail, The Magic Flute)

(2) Orchestra: 41 Symphonies (#1, #31 “Paris,” #40, #41 “Jupiter”) ; numerous divertimenti, serenades, marches etc.

(3) Concertos: 27 for piano (#2), 5 for violin (K219), 1 for clarinet (K622), 2 for flute, 4 for horn

(4) Chamber music: 23 string quartets (K465 “Dissonance,” K387) ; etc.

(5) Piano: 17 sonatas, 2 Fantasias, 15 sets of variations

(6) Church music: 18 masses, 4 litanies, Requiem (completed by one of his students)

Finally, the DVD (the one released in 2006) is perfect in portray and sound quality. It has no extras.

In conclusion, for those looking to get a like a flash device to learn everything about W.A. Mozart and to become acquainted with his aesthetic music, this is the film to eye!!

(1997; 1 hr; paunchy screen; 17 scenes; made for TV)
