My 4 year old-fashioned daughter absolutely loves this DVD. He sings along to it all day long(remarkable to her 6 yr. former brother’s fear) . I also like that it includes other “princesses” like Mulan and Pocahantas, I don’t want her to assume that you have to study a obvious contrivance to be special. We all have different color hair, eyes and skin, but we can all be a “Princess”!! Hightly recommend!!

I grew up reading The Adventures of Tintin, and they’re nothing less than spectacular: large characters, thrilling plots, and an overall astounding sense of adventure, friendship, humor and tenderness. Perhaps one of my fondest memories from childhood.

These French-Canadian inspiring series do try to be faithful to the novel albums, but there’s something missing. For one, they tend to be politically good, so they skip most of the truly engaging moments (I would have loved to perceive “The Blue Lotus” in all its dramatic historical context) . The laughable strip was drawn mostly in the thirties, forties and fifties, when suttleties were not in fashion, and yes, there were ethnic stereotypes in it, as in everything else at the time. So what? That’s allotment of its charm (glimpse Tag BELOW)!
Two, there’s not enough time to thunder these stories properly. The albums held the reader in suspense for hours; for a TV exhibit to do so in minutes it’s not possible. And it ain’t the same.

Three, the series don’t live up to their improbable opening secuence, which promises something astonishing. Those brief moments give the mature Tintin aficionado the thrill he’s expecting. Not that it all goes downhill from there, but the animation, although helpful, is no first class either. It would recall a major DreamWorks production to conclude that. By the contrivance, I heard Spielberg was working on a Tintin project. Any news? Someone?
P.S.: Peruse out for several Hergé cameos a la Hitchcock throughout the episodes. He’s the lanky blond gentleman with his hair combed in the middle.
NOTE BELOW: Hey, I’m Mexican and I don’t net offended by “The Broken Ear”! In fact, I don’t fetch offended at all! Not by Swiftly Gonzalez, Slowpoke Rodriguez, Go Go Gomez, Jose Jimenez, Señor Wences or any of that stuff (maybe Pat Buchanan, but he also makes me laugh)! On the contrary, this P.C. cr@p nobody enjoys really gets on my nerves! How approach you can rep “Birth of a Nation” on DVD but not “Song of the South”? Isn’t it nonsense?
I got both Tintin DVD sets for Christmas and I Worship Adore Admire them! I reflect I’ve seen each DVD, both in English and in French (it comes with both) at least 3 or 4 times. I esteem to glance them while I work or do stuff.
Anyone who knows anything about the history of Tintin knows that he evolves all the time. The books we occupy today are not the books that were originally published, are not the current strips that were first published in the Belgian Catholic newspaper in which Tintin was born. Everytime Tintin was changed, he was refined- he became less naive, more politically aware, more worldly (as opposed to Belgian) . Whether you mediate this is a capable or terrible thing is up to you.
While these DVDs are not identical to the droll strips, I indulge in them for a few reasons. First, they’re profitable, smart entertainment. They bring Tintin to life in a amazing diagram. Plus, they’re a mammoth method to practice my French. You can leer these in English or French with English or French subtitles.
When I visited Chenonceau, the chateau on which Moulinsart was modeled, they had a Tintin indicate in one of the stables, and they were playing one of these cartoons, in French. It was spacious.
I highly recommend these for anyone who loves Tintin or who is trying to learn French in a creative manner.

When I first heard that “Trinity” was on the arrangement, I had my reservations about it. I was insecure that the film would become cluttered with heroes, what with Blade and Whistler fighting necksuckers, and now Hannibal King and Abigail Whistler thrown into the fray. Somehow, a balance is found between the heroes that keeps all of them out of each others plan.

The location is reflective of the other films in that once again the vampires are looking for a contrivance to become daywalkers. Instead of calling up a vampire god or creating a mutant bustle though, they choose to go to the source of their “virus”–Dracula. Hoping to consume his blood to manufacture them perfect immortal beings and eventually herd humans like livestock to feed them, a group of vampires seeks out and revive the shaded prince. He looks like something from a GWAR concert, then morphs into this medieval looking guy. Dominic Purcell portrays him, and does a better-than-average job. Parker Posey plays a vamp who is very over-the-top. At first, I didn’t consider she’d work in this record, but she does a really capable job. WWE fans were glad to explore Triple H accumulate his chance to flesh out a vampire with silver caps on his teeth. His character is like the schoolyard bully of the bunch. He’s ample and awful, but has a soft space for Pomeranian dogs. The rest of the vampires are exquisite stock as far as new vampires go. They somehow all know martial arts, are unusually righteous at science, and like techno music.
Wesley Snipes looks very comfortable in his role as Blade. His character has lightened up a bit as far as humor goes, but he’s calm one terrible mama-jama. Kris Kristofferson looks comfortable as the tough dilapidated fart/father-figure Whistler. Jessica Biel was very profitable as Whistler’s daughter, Abigail. Of all the characters, she seems to be the one person you’d least inquire of to play a butt-kicker, but she pulls it off in immense style. Ryan Reynolds plays Hannibal King, a smarty pants vampire hunter who was once one of them. His one-liners are hilarious most of the time, but he gets dazzling annoying during parts of the film. His humor was probably highlighted a puny more than the average “Blade” audience member goes for, but I contemplate he did a exquisite decent job. The rest of Abigail and Hannibal’s group, the Nightstalkers, features a heavenly stock bunch of characters who are really only here to provide weapons and victims for the film.

The action is considerable better than in the second film. There is very runt evidence of CGI tampering in the fight sequences this time around. The majority of the action is shot up-close and personal. Blade, as usual, has that strike-a-pose mentality about him and has some very good-looking moves in this film. Hannibal is mainly a gunslinger. Abigail favors a bow and her boots when it comes to killing vampires.
Of course, no “Blade” film would be valid without some techno music. This time around the music has a shrimp nu metal flavor to it and more of a gangsta feel than the other two films. The music should be considered a major character, since it moves the entire movie at a swift dart. Of all of the films, I acquire that “Trinity” has the best soundtrack.
I’ve heard that this film would be the final installment in the “Blade” series. That’s probably a expedient thought since it looks like the vampires are starting to hurry out of options to become daywalkers. I’ve also heard that this movie is going to be venerable as a springboard for the characters of Hannibal King and Abigail Whistler. Mighty like the Elektra character in “Daredevil,” I’m clear that this duo can pull off a film on their occupy. Children should not peer this movie. It isn’t so mighty that it is scary, but f-bombs plunge left and good in this flick. The signature burn-up of vampires is also here, so that might be a cramped disturbing for some kiddies. The R-rating is well deserved due to the excessive spoiled language(more than the first two films) and the determined vioent aspect of the film. That’s objective something to preserve in mind if you’re turned off by cursing. I obtain heavenly tired of it in a film if it seems to be effect in honest to have the character arrive across as tougher or meaner.

I remember sitting in the theater, watching the regular release of Blade:Trinity and feeling utterly lost. What happened to his car? Why was Drake so NOT scary? Why the focus on Jessica Beale when this was Blade’s movie?
Then I rented the unrated version. The extra footage completely changed the movies. I felt the connection in this film that I felt with the first two. This was a Marvel movie, this was a dismal and scary hero fighting even darker, scarier monsters.
Wesley Snipes was upset with the recent nick. Blade simply was not Blade. With the recut, Blade walked that sword’s edge between the gloomy and the light.
Dominic Purcell turned in a decent performance in the recent cleave, but in the recut, Drake was not only scary and sexy, but also tragic. This was a Dracula who was seeing the kill of his run. He was creature that was watching his people descend from the residence of God’s to advertisements for marital aides and Drac-Cola.
I collected don’t procure Parker Posey as a Vampire but the sly in jokes – for instance the blonde vampire named Asher and other puny in jokes peppered about certainly made up for her performance.
This was the movie that should have been released, simply because we glean out what happened to the damned car!

The Noh screen in and of itself is a horrid thing. The transformation from the death-cycle of the feeble and young woman, to the living passion of Hachi is a distinguished transition in “Onibaba.” The raw, naked sexuality between Hachi and the young woman (who is never given a name) is unexpected in a shaded and white film, and thus all the more noteworthy. The impotent, icy rage of the aged woman, who would peep to stifle that fire and merely support existence as it was until she dies is repugnant in its selfishness. She would pull all such things into the deep, dusky hole where she flings the corpses of the samurai she murders. Hmmm…a deep, dim hole that is the kill of men’s lives…there must be a metaphor there somewhere.
“Onibaba” is a triumph of taking the masks of society away from human beings, and seeing them bare and naked in their primal dwelling, surviving as they can under dire circumstances. Some determine life, some decide death.
The deconstrunction and demystification of the samurai legend had been a project Akira Kurosawa had taken upon himself and that had seemingly reached a conclusion in YOJIMBO (1962), but Shindo’s ONIBABA (1964) takes it a step further by presenting them as bedraggled and exhausted, hungry and at the mercy of two seemingly innocuous women. Shindo’s world is hot and sultry, the characters old-fashioned and vulnerable. This is a very agreeable depiction of the affects of war on the fringes of society and the lengths clear parties must go to in order to survive. As well as exploring this theme Shindo also adds several enthralling layers, sexuality and jealousy originate a potent combination, as does the inserion of obsolete Japanese folk tales. The result is a film that shows the eroticism of human beings in their most natural and stripped down residence. Be hypnotised by the swaying grass fields and the sumptious shaded and white cinematography in this Japanese gem. Criterion’s disc is very safe.

The very basic packaging tells you that this is a no frills DVD. Many of MJ’s best videos are presented and that is all you accept. No care for menu or insert. No live performances, interviews, commercials or unruffled gallery. Nothing. Not even a discography. This doesn’t prick it in this day and age of DVD. The videos are broad, but this is hardly a difinitive collection. Expecially since all of these (effect “You Rock My World”) are already available on other discs. And why do video collections support getting released with shortened or re-edited videos? We want the Plump novel video ok! Is that too mighty to ask?
It’s hard to go substandard with an MJ music video and these are all colossal. But this DVD could have (and should have) been definitie. Instead it’s fair yet another collection of videos collectors already have.
If you were like me and already owned the two DVDs of HIStory (Video Greatest Hits – HIStory and HIStory on Film – Volume II), you were probably disdainful when this Number Ones DVD got released. Almost everything on Number Ones was already presented in the HIStory DVDs.
So is there buying incentive? At bargain-bin prices, yes, because on this DVD you will procure three Michael Jackson videos that range from well-behaved to unbelievable, and they’re not available on DVD outside of here.
“Man in the Mirror” was a flat-out ballsy depart on Jackson’s section, to employ only grainy stock footage and not a single shot of himself to form a video of one of his greatest hits of that time (“Man” was one of two singles from Dreadful that had two weeks at #1, not one) . The song itself is a classic, thanks to one of Quincy Jones’ best productions, a soul-stirring rhythm track, and Siedah Garrett’s poetic, visionary lyrics, but coupled with the video’s images of a world in turmoil, it’s magic. This style actually spawned another classic music video years later with Soul Asylum’s “Runaway Vow”, but Jackson was there first.
“Dirty Diana” holds a special space for me because it’s one of the very few Jackson performance videos. Many people don’t like the song, but I like it objective attractive, and Jackson and guitarist Steve Stevens were on fire in the stage expose. This video made you realize that Jackson’s touring band simply kicked ass.
There’s one more curio: The short, sped-up version of “Level-headed Criminal” intended as a broadcast alternative. This was the first version of this classic video I ever saw, and while it doesn’t drawl the splendid choreography and art direction of the chunky version, it is a masterpiece from the editing standpoint. If you want to do hasten cutting, this is the draw to do it, and at many points they even managed to sync up Jackson’s hyper-sped-up footage to the tempo of the track, no shrimp feat. Unfortunately, both this video and “Dirty Diana” seem to lack for a worthy master source; both videos feature ample film scratches and view far less pristine than the rest of the official videos.
There’s honest one more video on here not available on other DVDs, and that’s “You Rock My World”. The song blows, and so does the video — an expensive, self-indulgent fraction whose only point of interest is its guest stars Chris Tucker, Michael Madsen and Billy Drago (Nitti in The Untouchables) . I’m not surprised this video was directed by Paul Hunter, the same man who had made Bulletproof Monk an unwatchable mess, because “You Rock My World” is your typical new video with too worthy belief and not enough substance — the choreography is messy, Jackson himself looks ridiculous (as he always does when he tries to act), and all the guest stars are wasted when they could’ve been given a chances to really colour the video with their personalities. Even “Liberian Girl” (available on HIStory on Film Volume II) was better.
I got this DVD from the bargain bin, so from my slay, it was serene worth it fair for the three videos I mentioned. If you don’t believe either HIStory DVDs, I’d detached recommend you salvage them rather than Number Ones, because the HIStory DVDs are a more comprehensive collection of Jackson’s videos, and it’s on those that you’ll pick up the classic elephantine version of “Composed Criminal”. Number Ones is for the casual viewer who wants to pay less to bag most of Jackson’s videos. If that’s your preference, then this DVD will encourage honest fair. I’m quiet waiting for them to achieve Moonwalker out on DVD, though. That live version of “Approach Together” and the hilarious “Awful” spoof “Badder” (featuring kids playing the punk roles!) are peaceful only available on Moonwalker, and it’s about time they resurfaced.
