I’ve always liked this movie. A lot. Not many people do. When I heard it was now out on Blu Ray I jumped at the chance before reading reviews.. I’m not a ample fan of ‘the grain is supposed to be there’ argument. Maybe it is maybe it isn’t but I don’t care for it. Like Fargo, though not as unpleasant, the backgrounds in most every scene ‘crawl’ with noise (grain? ) which to my examine looks like a digital ‘distortion’.

Call me some rube who doesn’t know about such technology if you wish, but when I search for movies like Murky Knight and King Kong that recognize like challenging photographs I put a question to the same with any movie I am PAYING money for, let alone paying for twice. When I spy older movies like 2001 A Position Odyssey peek like it was filmed yesterday it’s hard to stomach a transfer such as this.
I have seen worse transfers I advise but my rant doesn’t slay there – they saw fit to include the standard def version of the movie which is a nice trinket accurate? Well, yes and no, the commentary is ONLY included on THAT version of the movie.. which I guess makes some sense because I honestly don’t deem the Blu Ray version is up to par anyway.

If you have the dvd version of this movie, I would pass on this transfer and do the $20 for studios that actually bewitch the time to remaster the footage instead of slapping a 1080p logo on a Blu case and hoping that it is enough – it isn’t.
