I have 2 girls and a slight 2 yr outmoded that i babysit and they fancy this movie. We have 3 different Dora movies and this is their well-liked one. My 2 yr primitive Daughter loves the songs and loves to content along with them. And a major plus is that its exquisite long. Honest long enough for their attention spans and not too short that i have to support listening to the same songs over and over again
My daughter loves Dora and all her shows. She would sit and perceive this DVD as many times as I would let her. Most Dora shows are 25 minutes long, but this one is double that so it gives me a larger block of time to obtain stuff done while she is watching. Very cute!

“Before Sunset” is a pleasing part of film making that feels like an 80-minute consume in eavesdropping on a conversation between two exact, knowable people–not actors on the silver veil. The movie is a rarity in this age of fifty-million dollar budgets, graphic sex, extravagant sets, and cheesy special effects (none of which I particularly mind; “Sunset” is unprejudiced a nice departure from the latest multiplex thriller) . It never feels contrived, the plan most movie romances do; the (abundant) conversation that makes the movie work is flowing and righteous. The characters seem genuine, not like paid actors at all (attribute that to Hawke and Delpy’s perfect on-screen chemistry) . I never got the feeling that either were impartial reciting lines from a script someone else had written (the director and two lead actors are given fleshy writing credit; thus, the feeling of authenticity) . This sentiment of realism holds particularly good toward the slay of the film, when Celine angrily shouts at Jesse that he ruined things for her, that their night together nine years ago was as estimable as it’ll ever be, and now she’s forced to unfavorably compare everything to that. How can anyone act that without feeling it? I wondered.

As its prequel, “Before Sunrise,” was nicely situation in Vienna, Paris is a stunning backdrop for “Before Sunset,” with (blissfully) nary a shot of the Eiffel Tower in look and not a stamp of the typical “topple in appreciate in Paris” accordion music. But the cafes, shops, cobblestone streets, and River Seine are all display in their authentic glory.
I conception the ending, in fitting with the rest of the film, was perfect. What ultimately happens is settled in my mind, which may vary from another’s interpretation. Isn’t it nice to be able to resolve the outcome instead of being force-fed the answers? It will be a long time before I examine another movie I enjoyed as distinguished as “Before Sunset.”
Maybe I sound biased because Richard Linklater’s 1995 film Before Sunrise is one of my ten or so all time accepted films, but this improved (and I plan that would be impossible!) sequel to an infinitely mammoth film is truly the best film (so far) of 2004. The screenplay, co-written by director Richard Linklater and stars Julie Delpy & Ethan Hawke, is probably one of the most refreshing of this decade. It succeeds on so many levels because of the development of this relationship and the fact that Delpy and Hawke have such a three dimensional knowledge of these complex characters-no, human beings. Fictional of course, but they are collected the most humanistic cloak “couple” I’ve ever seen.

Jesse (Hawke) and Celine (Delpy), separated for nine years, are undeniably the soul mates often described in their conversations, the ones that dig deeper than microscopic talk. On a book tour in Paris, where Celine now lives, Jesse finds her watching him through a window as he absentmindedly describes the book he has written, which concerns two fictional lovers who meet and use a night together-quite obviously autobiographical, when the inquire of is implied by an interviewer. From there on, the two reunite and employ a brief but unforgettable afternoon in Paris, wandering the streets.
The screenplay and direction are flawless. The dialogue and its delivery is so natural, so uncontrived I was convinced even more that these were proper people that I knew. After all, I’ve waited nine years too (okay, not really, I only saw Sunrise a year ago) . Linklater unbiased observes all that is going on without overly glamorizing it. Delpy and Hawke capture this dialogue and execute it into their own-they are those Celine and Jesse as far as I’m concerned. Some of the best acting this year can be found in Sunset.
The city of Paris serves as a fluid and dreamlike backdrop to the dazzling and grand, bittersweet and captivating talk. Sunset is well filmed, and embraces fair enough of Paris, which in fact would be more noticeable upon the inevitable second viewing. This city has never looked better on the hide!
I liked the fact that both Jesse and Celine expressed their just feelings through an art manufacture, he with a book, and she with a song. This clearly conveys the message that there aloof exists romanticism in each of them despite each characters’ biting cynicism. Although they never once said a word along the lines of “I like you,” you know throughout the entire film that they are unruffled in like with each other. Maybe I am reading too deeply into this film, but I strongly absorb that the first situation that the two go, the café, is almost like a complete reenactment of the direct sequence in clear ways-it is the beginning of their jog and each area is mutual ground where Jesse and Celine are not under pressure, but they can unprejudiced talk without interruptions or worries about the past.
By the time the ending came around, I held attend tears in my eyes-out of happiness for these characters. If a film can do that, it’s a winner in my mind. Those last words of the film leave you wanting more, but they are also smart and have stuck out in my mind amidst the philosophy and deep discussions. I won’t slay it, but the ending is impartial so incredible because you know that something reliable is going to happen.
Do yourself a favor and witness Before Sunset before it’s too slow, and then remove yourself the soundtrack as a memory of this delicate film so that it is not forgotten until the DVD release.

I grew up with the Tony Randall/Jack Klugman sitcom version of “The Curious Couple.” Everything about it is comic. Having seen for the first time the movie, I never before imagined how quick-witted Neil Simon could be. The movie outshines the TV series, and is worth the state on any standard comedy DVD library shelf.

In the TV series, Klugman’s Oscar is a bohemian bachelor living in slop, and apparently suppose. In the movie, Walter Matthau’s Oscar is no neater, but five times as deep. Although he lives in a divorced man’s squalor of ragged cigars and warm beer, he wants more. He’s lonely for his wife and kids, and regrets not making his alimony payments. His life is so disorganized that he wastes money by squandering cash on dinners out and gambling.
When Felix Ungar, as played by Jack Lemmon, Oscar’s poker buddy, comes to cease when his wife divorces him, lifestyles clash.

On the surface, the clash is about organization and housekeeping. More deeply, Felix and Oscar duel as Well-kept Ego and ID. Consistently archetypal, they are, in a more fresh sense, like Marge and Homer Simpson, each seeing life through their shrimp expressions. Felix is uptight, and forever second-guessing himself. Oscar is living life for the moment, and never stopping to think his responsibilities.
Oscar cares about Felix more than their other poker buddies, and connects with him as alter self, regarding their friendship worth pursuing. Since Felix needs a dwelling to cease, Oscar offers up his gargantuan apartment. The conflicts arise soon after, but not without each appreciating what the other brings to the relationship. Ironies abound when Felix’s hypersensitivities obtain him the affection of two dimwitted but gorgeous sisters, and Oscar’s unbridled hormones.
Oscar can’t befriend but devour Felix’s mammoth cooking and cleaning habits. He eats better, saves money, and finds his home is a nice a site to be when cigarette butts don’t litter the floor.
No remake could rep such a cast. Matthau and Lemmon are known here as a duo on par with any of the vast matches, like Bogie and Bacall, Bing and Bob, or Abbott and Costello. John Fiedler as the soft spoken family man, Vinnie, and Herb Edelman as Murray the cop are casted primely. One reason “The Strange Couple II” misses is this class cast. Matthau and Lemmon bring a lot to the table, but with Murray and Vinnie (plus Monica Evans and Carole Shelley respectively as the giggly sisters, Cecily and Gwendolyn Pigeon), anything made 30+ years later won’t do.
Superbly written, “The Irregular Couple” is one of those comedies with intelligence. Never does Neil Simon try to pan off one-liners. Even as Oscar tosses out slicing one-phrased commentaries as posthaste as Grouch Marx, there is more than a fleet chuckle tedious it. It is the myriad of layers, subtle commentary and sly interjections that bewitch this script up an extra level, placing it as a classic.
Surprisingly bewitching is the theme. It is the same them as in the TV series, but plays in varied orchestrations throughout the movie’s context. It was one of the colossal TV themes, and to hear it extrapolated in several variations makes it so great more exquisite.
I fully recommend “The Uncommon Couple.”

It unbiased doesn’t catch too considerable funnier than Matthau & Lemmon in this movie. Each scene is a like. I’d heard that Matthau wanted to play Felix first, saying that he could’ve “phoned in” his performance of Oscar. But, this was perfect casting. A line that collected is one of the best is when Oscar goes through his littany of things that irritate him about Felix. He tells him to end the cramped notes he leaves on his pillow. “We are all out of toilet paper. F.U. It took me three hours to figure out that F.U. meant Felix Unger!” You gotta possess this one. It’s a classic.

I intended to eye THE BUTTERFLY at a French Film Festival here in Boston a few years ago, but I purchased the tickets on line and must have made a mistake, because I was given tickets for another film that was showing on the same day at a later time. I then rented the DVD or what I conception was the DVD but didn’t pay careful attention to the box and saw a Spanish film with the same title, a worthwhile film, but not what I wanted to examine. Seeing this film was becoming as grand of a challenge as finding the elusive as the butterfly that the main character is searching for in the film. Finally I had the apt DVD in hand, and saw a simple film that is both entertaining and charming.

THE BUTTERFLY (LE PAPILLON) is a relatively short (about eighty minutes) film that tells the yarn of a friendship that grows between a young girl and a man customary enough to be her grandfather. Julien (Michel Surrault) is an older gentleman who has a passion for collecting butterflies. A young mother and her daughter Elsa fade in the same apartment building. Elsa (Claire Bouanich) is often left alone and one day, as Julien leaves for a bound to accept an elusive butterfly, the Isabella, Elsa is left alone. He has a choice: either he can leave Elsa with the police or he can capture her with him. He chooses the latter, due more to impatience with the wait at the police site than any kind of attachment to the girl, and it is on the go the two bond. We learn as the film progresses why Julien is alone and the importance of finding the Isabella for both characters.
The account of a young spirit touching the heart of a lonely older person is familiar and has been told in many different ways in films the world over, yet THE BUTTERFLY manages to whine it in an unusual scheme. The film is delicate to look, especially the mountain scenes, and it never gets sentimental though it tugs at the heart. It’s an savory film to stare and a huge film to have in a DVD collection to notice again and again.

I can’t add distinguished to the previous reviews of the movie but to say that this is an shapely film. It’s one of those movies that develop you assume, “Why aren’t more movies like this…”
It’s also a immense movie for students of French to notice. The language is very easy compared to most French language hmovies.

Now like many I too come by that Jean Claude Van Damme isn’t the greatest actor in the world. He’s an action hero after all and distinguished like Steven Seagal, he’s someone we wouldn’t usually query a 5 star acting performance from. He’s impartial dilapidated to kicking people in the head and looking all heavenly whilst doing so. Now he’s older and currently a man who’s career was absolutely dying a death, at least until this film was made and now he has the possibility to be benefit on design and revive his career as a more serious actor.

So what makes this film different from all the rest? I hear you ask. Well for one he’s not playing some clichéd character who you demolish up shouting “kick his head off” at. He’s actually playing himself in a fictional setting and as outlandish as it sounds it actually allows him to note worthy more acting talent than you would have first plan.
So what’s the film about? I hear you secondly ask. Well, JCVD’s life isn’t going too well and is constantly in battle to catch movie roles but is constantly beaten by his rival Steven Seagal. His wife has divorced him and is in correct battles for the legal to have access to his daughter. He also has quite a few tax and money troubles to boot, so to hasten his troubles he decides to go home to his native Belgium only this isn’t as composed as he’d hoped.

Upon his arrival in Belgium he goes into a Post Office, and after his fans inform a local policeman that the legendary Jean Claude Van Damme is home and in the local post office. Then out of nowhere a gunshot rings from the post office sending people into a fear and insecure that it turns out to be the movie star himself holding up the post office, or is it?
Well what entails is a film about hostage negotiation and a traumatic movie star life that is topped off with a difficult location. It’s not the typical JCVD film as it contains very miniature fighting karate style, but the film is made truly special with the defining monologue. Roughly half arrangement through the film, JCVD is brought away from the chronicle and the film in quite a exclusive style that allows him to snarl a monologue that gives the impression it comes straight from the heart. He talks about his life and career and how he wants to be remembered as a more serious actor. I got the impression that a lot of the monologue although in a scripted movie, was actually improvised or at least written by JCVD himself.
I would highly recommend this film to any JCVD and non-JCVD fan as it’s truly his best work to date. This is seriously a possible breakthrough movie for him to bring his career serve up to rush and rather than continuing to star in “straight to DVD” movies like this one, sadly, he may be given more movies that originate in the cinema and give him a wider appeal as the man is level-headed a name that captures peoples interests.
Get it, you wont be disappointed.
I came upon a crowd outside a movie theater bearing the title: JCVD. The theater is jammed with dedicated fans having memories of Van Dammes past International shapely star spot from the 1988 Bloodsport.
What a movie! It likely surpassing the collective expectations from the open of the entire audience. The opening scene rocks. A 4-minute film within a film begins with vintage-like Van Damme moments of high energy action. This single-shot sequence unfolds vamping up Van Dammes pre-existing persona in dynamic fashion. Then this unbelievable assembly of action ends with a hilarious fraudulent wall falling over when a door is simply slammed too hard by a winded and exhausted Van Damme blithely complaining to a movie director, who couldnt care less (as in sincere life), that he is 47 and it is simply too hard to do these inflamed action scenes at his age!
The film then pivots under the young but world class directorship of Mabrouk El Mechri to the main legend, where the audience is treated to a Van Damme they have never seen before acting with fantastic depth and character. This transformation from a shallow bigger-than-life action hero to portraying upright down-to-life emotions will be worth the admission alone.
Van Dammes dramatic performance and his featured monologue — are mighty. The director caught Van Damme on film in a draw to beget any audience celebrate with rousing enthusiasm alongside Van Damme as he convincingly relates his thought in the American dream, then address his marriage and drug problems of his past, and how he wants a second chance to accomplish a contrast in the world. It is one of those cinema moments bordering on being a masterpiece; it re-invents Van Damme.
The camera floats through the chaos of Van Dammes life and caresses Van Dammes face that has taken on a marvelous amount of character. Van Damme has stories in his eyes. Van Damme has life in his eyes. Van Damme has sadness in his eyes. Van Damme has regrets in his eyes. Van Damme has a message to issue. The movie cleverly uncovers the pitfalls unhurried celebrity plot with humor that Van Damme does very well.
The set borrows on Van Dammes trying past. Playing himself, a beaten and unfortunate Van Damme returns to his native Belgium in hopes of getting out of the limelight. Van Damme is financially drained and makes a bee line to his home bank. But the Belgium bank is in the midst of being robbed. Van Damme is caught up in the ensuing mayhem as the police on arrival wrongly purchase Van Damme is fragment of the robbery team. The staunch criminals are enjoying extravagant profitable luck. Not only do they have Belgiums biggest movie star in their control, but through his ill-luck he is also taking the plunge for them! In trying to get a method out, Van Damme realizes his Hollywood action roles of his past all topple flat when a actual gun is pressed to his head.
