And That is the Pretender. Well, sort of, the 2 movies that are going to be released after NBC canceled the Pretender will be out soon but at least they did something similar to what they did with MacGyver. But anyway, The Pretender is level-headed a mountainous display and is satisfied for people to relish!

I have all of the “Pretender” collection…and like the previous 3, season 4 was/is impartial as spirited. If you don’t have it, you should…especially if you’re a fan of the note. My only regret, is that there won’t be more…unless I’m incorrect, this was the final season. Too unpleasant all the really huge shows are cast aside.

Having grown up in Lake County, IL, Lake Forest has always held a bit of wonder and fascination for me. Admiring all of the comely houses and imagining what it must be like to live there was all I view of as a young girl. After having watched this film though, I now sight that it has so distinguished more to offer. I was totally unaware of all the history that Lake Forest holds. It was fabulous to learn (or re-learn) about all the eminent people that have either passed through it’s (walls) and/or have made vital contributions to our nation. The cinematography was breathtaking also. It made me want to find in my car and re-visit this fantastic town. It’s definitely a film the whole family can like and should sight together. I recommend it wholeheartedly. A+

Being a resisdent of Lake Forest for more than 10 years, I was exciting to behold what this movie had to offer. I was pleasantly surpised of how titillating the film was. Typically, documentaries are not my first choice when it comes to watching movies. The history of Lake Foreset had me completley intrigued and wanting for more. The film captured yearly celbrations, ravishing scenery and interviews with residents that have made an distinct impact for the town and our country. This film should be a required viewing for all grade school children in the set, so they pick up another enormous opportunity to learn the history of Lake Forest. This film is tremendous for all audiences.

Take a scramble befriend in time, when Cyclops ruled the land. Roman citizens were not honorable, herds were randomly decimated, and horror reined supreme…that is, until the titanic Caesar himself rid the land of the hazardous creatures!

Buy,Download, Or Stream Cyclops! Click Here

Except for one. The last Cyclops roams the forested region around Rome, dining on unsuspecting thieves and brigands. A hungry trio spies a drying rack of wool, and pays for their dishonesty with their lives. Cyclops rips through two men, leaving one leisurely to warn the Emperor Tiberius. Corruption runs rampant through the Roman empire, and Tiberius, with his maniacal pattern of decision making and ambition, has rush the gauntlet until his only the most violent `victory’ games will do. He sends Marcus Romulus to bewitch Cyclops for utilize in the games. An inflamed Cyclops kills many of the troops, yet Marcus emerges as a hero, inciting the jealousy of the Emperors’ nephew. Popularity is no weapon against blind ambition, and the victory games pit man against Cyclops, friend against friend, and ultimately, freedom against tyranny!

This is one astonishing movie. The CGI employed on Cyclops is grand, unprejudiced as the costuming/props obsolete on the Centurions is. A picturesque digital reconstruction of Rome serves as a agreeable backdrop for this freedom motivated film. If there is any quandary with the production, it is the Victory games pit mature. I am not determined that an Emperor as fanatical as Tiberius is depicted as would resolve for a cramped arena, but it does work in the film very well. Another realistic element is that of the format of the games with cramped side battles climaxing in a major brawl. The background element of the slaves being frail in the games instead of building the nephews’ villa addition is also apt. In times of war, households were cleaned out of slaves for war efforts and `freely’ given when any Emperor demanded it.

The casting of Eric Roberts as Tiberius is first-rate, while Kevin Stapleton as the imprisoned General is a valid foil. Roberts gives a performance that reminds me of the BBC I, Claudius strongly. Stapleton is rugged, and is a fitting Roman centurion.

Roger Corman gives us a film that is a wonderful addition to any sand and sandal collection. Astronomical DVD jacket too!

Who doesn’t treasure a satisfactory cyclops movie? I obvious can’t believe of anybody, nor would I think someone a moral American if they didn’t. Cyclopses(Sorry, I have never had to pluralize the word “cyclops” before) tend to only effect fleeting appearances in a dinky number of films, but thanks to Roger Corman’s company, Original Horizons, we pick up a whole film dedicated to a cyclops! And dig this, it actually takes state in primitive Rome! Throw Eric Roberts into the mix and it’s a no brainer that you’ll have to explore it.

In the film, a cyclops is posing a threat to Rome, so Tiberius Caesar(Roberts) orders it’s assume. Hero soldier, Marcus, succeeds in capturing the ten foot beast, only to be thanked by having his promotion yanked out from under him and being accused of treason. Tiberius puts the cyclops into the gladiatorial games to compete with slaves and criminals who fight to rep their freedom or death. The cyclops is a vicious brute who rips people limb from limb, decapitates and devours them as well. He even bites off a kid’s hand(he was asking for it though. You don’t tease a cyclops)! As you might have already guessed, our hero Marcus will eventually be pitted against the cyclops, but Marcus learns that befriending a cyclops can be quite useful, especially if you’re planning a rebellion.

This film was fun nonsense. Not historically suitable by any means, but why should it be? Roberts kinda sleepwalks through the scandalous emperor role, but that really doesn’t bring the film down. Considering we’re not dealing with a Schmuckheimer budgeted film here, I was actually quite impressed with the gawk of the film. The movie looks higher budgeted than it probably was and the status compose wasn’t dreadful at all. No, it wasn’t HBO’s Rome, but pleasing honorable I must say. The cyclops itself is naturally a CGI creation, and an above average one for a straight to video film. He’s not all that impressive looking to me, but I abhor CGI anyway. You score extinct to his see before too long though. The cyclops becomes a bit more of a sympathetic character in the last act of the film. I mediate it’s supposed to be emotional, but it’s more comically silly than anything.

Like I said, it’s a fun itsy-bitsy film and I’d recommend it to lovers of B films, terror films….and movies about gladiators!!

I wouldn’t save remarkable stock in folks who say this film is poor, has abominable acting, writing, FX, etc. IT’S A MOVIE ABOUT A CYCLOPS FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!

A budget DVD released on Goodtimes homevideo (It extinct to be released on MGM) . Characterize quality of ‘Jack the Giant Killer’ is grand better than the Vhs version (obviously) and about the same (if not better) than the Laser Disc release. This single layer disc runs 1 hour 36 minutes and is playable worldwide (NTSC) . The movie stars Kerwin Williams & the shapely Judi Meredith and directed by Nathan Juran. There are no special features on this DVD except for scene index and play. The DVD is worth it even at this brand. This is not the musical version but the regular movie version, The disc is made in Hong Kong (and/or Taiwan) as mentioned on the attend of the DVD keepcase, but then again most budget DVDs are made there nowadays. The portray and sound quality is very righteous (Its the best I’ve seen of this video so far) and would accept this classic before its too slow.

I gave this film 3 stars based on “the Film” because…

-It was such a blatant band-wagon fade after “The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad”. It’s hard to eye without noticing parodies.

-The giants inexplicably all have goat’s legs, unprejudiced like the cyclops in SVOS!!

-Same director and lead actors as SVOS… in the SAME ROLES!!!

-Some scenes hump on, even action scenes! “let’s indicate more monsters LONGER!!!” The witch scene on the ship NEVER ENDS!!

-A miniature magical helper, fair like SVOS. He even makes the same bargain for his freedom!!

Buy,Download, Or Stream Jack the Giant Killer! Click Here

-Battle between giant and serpent, fair like SVOS battle between Cycplops and Dragon.
-Editing is amusing at times. Senes were obviously slit (gaunlet hall has arms slice off and blades broken but not a clue how it happened!) while others go on… and on… and on…..
-Acting is gallant considering the script!! This thing was obviously thrown together. I particularly enjoyed the high-school acting of Judy Meredith. Kind of like watching a car demolish… you fair can’t view away.
-The monsters are extremely outrageous in every aspect, from sculpting to animation. The amusing thing is, the animation seams to regain a slight better as the film rolls along, like they created the sequences in script order.
-Jim Danforth (though I never search for his name on the Credits? ) needed to understudy under Harryhausen a bit longer. He had very runt knowledge of human or animal physiology. This made his creatures inspect cartoonish and less believable. Do you like shiney monsters? To his credit, they definately have character.
-Despite all of this, it is a fun film. Objective need to obtain over the SVOS “cloning”.

As a value priced DVD, I’d have to give it 5 stars. Here’s why;

Buy,Download, Or Stream Jack the Giant Killer! Click Here

-Picture quality is better than could ever be expected for this obscure film (at this imprint) . Someone in Hong Kong must of had this on ice!!
-Ditto for sound quality. As great as could be expected for a featureless DVD.

-Packaging is better than adequate. They actually Screened a nice image on the disk!
-NOT THE MUSICAL!!!

Given all of this, I’d serene recommend this DVD for Harryhausen Fans. It really puts his skills in perspective. It is also a whimsical and toothsome movie in it’s beget suitable. I fair could not earn over the “Sinbad” thing!!

After reading the Fresh York Times article about the restoration process for Yellow Submarine, I had high hopes for this DVD. I was not disappointed.

The color saturation is sumptuous. There are some imperfections, but on the whole this is a first class restoration. If you want devour the restoration, glance at the recent theatrical trailer or the “making of” documentary extras.

The re-mastered audio brings modern complexity and detail to familiar Beatle material (even on my strictly middlebrow home entertainment system) . The opening a cappella chorus of “Nowhere Man” sounded like it was recorded yesterday.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Yellow Submarine! Click Here

For a generation that has not seen this film, Yellow Submarine is a perfect time capsule for 60’s psychedelic era. The film begins in under the sea in Pepperland, an idyllic musical community, which is attacked by the music-hating Blue Meanies. “Young Fred” manages to dash the attack in the Yellow Submarine, which takes him to England. He recruits the Beatles to return with him to Pepperland to join the battle between the forces of order (the Blue Meanies) and the forces of creativity and worship. The residence is splendid considerable as hokey as it sounds, but it is merely a vehicle for the music, humor, surrealism, artistic and social sensibilities of the psychedelic 60’s. And it is there that the movie emphatically succeeds.

The animation is certainly not as sophisticated as some more original efforts, but it stands up remarkably well. There was a lot of revolutionary (for the 60’s) integration of animation and live action. The colors are elegant. Visually, this is level-headed a very engaging film.

If you don’t like the Beatles music, or are bored by animation, finish away. If you are on the fence about getting this DVD, assume it. You won’t be disappointed. And if you treasure the Beatles, this DVD should depart to the top of your list.

You’re browsing the video rental racks, and there it is: a blue background with yellow lettering and a trippy submarine (yellow at that) on the mask. The movie? THE BEATLES: YELLOW SUBMARINE.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Yellow Submarine! Click Here

Having only seen this movie (well, and MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR, which you probably haven’t seen, and there’s a reason for that….) of The Beatles I cannot compare it to the other 3 (HARD DAY’S NIGHT, Wait On!, and LET IT BE) . So I can only operate in this sphere of knowledge.

YELLOW SUBMARINE, simply assign, is one unfamiliar movie. They remove elements of The Beatles mythology and throw it all together and destroy up with a region called Pepperland which, for some weird reason (I don’t assume the film says why, though I may be rotten) is being invaded by Blue Meanies. Oh yes…… The Blue Meanies want to invent everything blue. It has the very hippy or 1960s message of appreciate and music will set aside the day, which is what happens. Through the plot we net several visually dynamic (and altogether unique) music video segments. The Beatles were ahead of their times, let me swear you. I AM THE WALRUS is one of the first music videos.

Anyway, its campy fun, though when watching the film it seems a lot longer than it actually is. The animation portrays a convoluted world, fleshy of original beings found only in a drug-induced cosmos. Throw that in with the fact its mainly about The Beatles, and we have a very trippy and fun movie. Jeremy is the most memorable character.

And no, The Beatles do not play themselves. In that respect, this isn’t really a Beatles movie at all, its unbiased a film produced by their company about them, and they did a microscopic afterword (you observe them for like a cramped or 2) . It also do in the excised “Hey Bulldog” sequence from the American version. They advertised that there was a lost Beatles song that would be included with the novel release of Yellow Submarine. It wasn’t a song at all, unbiased the lost footage. Liars. No, I’m not bitter at all!
