Based on a fresh by Yoshikazu Takeuchi, ‘Perfect Blue’ is one of those anime that successfully attempt the unexpected. Written and paced more like a Hitchcock film than the typical action film, this is a record where the psychological aspects are as compelling as the sometimes-ferocious action.

Mima Kirigoe is an idol singer, allotment of a moderately successful trio called Cham. Since the career life of these singers is, at best, a matter of a few years, Mima has decided to leave Cham to try her hand at being an actress. She lands a allotment in ‘Double Bind,’ a suspense thriller that will test her commitment in many ways, putting her in situations that some of her passe fans gain discouraged. This explodes into her life in a grand diagram when Mima finds an internet website that purports to be written by her.

Whoever is writing the status knows too powerful about what Mima is going through, and she finds herself stalked by an heart-broken fan that has developed a fixation on her. Soon people are dying in shocking circumstances, and Mima becomes more and more confused about whom she really is and what is staunch. First time director Satoshi Kon is merciless, making determined that the viewer gets few clues about which reality is staunch and whether what one sees is in ‘Double Bind,’ ‘Perfect Blue,’ or in Mima’s mind alone.

This is really a great fragment of work. Gargantuan care is save into artistic and musical values. It has striking graphic qualities without the viewer ever getting the feeling that the images are overwhelming the fable. In addition, I particularly like the imaginative employ of color. Of course, the employ of music is particularly well-known in a film about Japanese accepted entertainment figures, and Kon makes definite that the film lives up to aural expectations.

This is a rough, exciting film. Violence, assassinate, and rape are depicted with the deliberate draw of making the watcher depressed. It skirts the edge of being offensive, and is sometimes classified as hentai – curious pornography. It isn’t by my standards, but ‘Perfect Blue’ is graphic enough to offend some people. Select this into consideration before deciding to peer.

Anime can topple into apocalyptic (Akira), cutesy heroine (Sailor Moon), hentai (LA Blue Girl), samurai (Ninja Scroll), or mechanistic (Neon Evangelion) . Perfect Blue is principal in that it does not fit in any of those well-trod genres.

After two and a half years of being lead singer with the techno-pop trio Cham, 21-year obsolete Mima Kigiroe announces at a concert that she is leaving the group to pursue a movie career. One of the other members puts it more colourfully, that Mima has graduated from Cham. The recede stuns her fans, but Mima sees her time there as incredible, but felt suffocated by the innocent pop-idol image and that it was time to disappear on to newer things, such as her role in Double Bind, a psycho-thriller drama series where she plays the sister of a victim. Tadokoro feels that there’s “no space for pop idols to appeal to the masses.” Acting in this drama will be Mima’s “compose it or wreck it” opportunity.

Upon the insistence of her agent Tadokoro to Shibuya, the scriptwriter, and the producer(? ) Tejima, her role gradually increases, from the line “Who are you? ” to something drastic, tantalizing a traumatic scene Jodie Foster did in The Accused, only it’s the stage of a strip club and not on a pool table. Besides, it’s simulated anyway. This does indeed change Mima’s image, but Rumi Hidaka, her other agent and ancient pop idol, is upset and even leaves during that scene.

Mima has other problems. She comes across a website called Mima’s Room, which initially causes her amusement, as it details an imagined day in her life, “Someone sures knows me”–but when she reads some things that actually happened, she gets paralyzed.

Mima is then confronted not only with those things, but with a version of herself as she was as Cham’s lead singer, wearing her Cham dress. This “outmoded” version insists HERSELF as is the actual Mima, which makes the precise and “original” Mima an impostor. There’s also a cross stalker, a mysterious hunchback with abominable teeth that she notices and sees during her shooting scenes.

Meanwhile, people associated with promoting Mima’s recent career go are getting brutally murdered, such as a photographer who took some nude photos of Mima for a magazine. For an anime, there is some detail in the photos shown that would not ordinarily be seen even in anime of this kind.

There is one puzzling aspect. Despite having a enthusiastic following, it seems inconsistent that Cham never hit the charts, yet when Mima leaves, we learn that Cham debuted in the Japanese pop charts for the first time. Normally, when a key member leaves a well-loved group, a unique sound and sliding sales result, (q.v. Spice Girls, Bananarama) . Trivia: the fax Mima receives reads “uragiri”, which indeed does mean traitor.

Most of it is influenced by Hitchcock’s Psycho, but the violence of the murders catch Basic Instinct and Yell. Then there’s the blurring between reality and delusion explored in Vertigo (Hitchcock again) and Alejandro Amenebar’s Abre Los Ojos. Double Bind is similar to Silence Of The Lambs (modus operandus of the killer) . The upbeat techno-pop and a trio becoming a duo also mirrors Bananarama, although the music is more Pet Shop Boys during their Very period. Then there’s the usual lead singer leaving the group for individual fame and more money, as was the case for Peter Cetera and Bobby Brown. And one need leer no further than John Lennon and Rebecca Schaffer in terms of demented stalker fans. These influences entwine themselves to yield an exceptional thriller, with a likeable heroine (Mima) to root for, as she grows despite her traumatic experiences.

A friend recommended this video to me to befriend in potty training. My son likes it; at first he wasn’t too alive to in it but after the 3rd time watching it he got into it. It is cute with music and engages him. I like that it emphasizes it’s okay to have accidents and everyone learns at there gain budge.

Initially, I was disappointed with this video. But that did not seem to matter because my son loved it. My viewpoint: “Sitting” on the potty was abstract. There was only one scene in which a child was about to sit on the potty. Most of the scenes included children and monsters going to the bathroom, shutting the door and then you would hear flushing and hand washing. So you had to infer what was going on leisurely the doors. Obviously you can’t have a bunch of children streaking but I imagine they could have had a few more monsters tastefully sitting on the potty. The characters were gargantuan, the songs very catchy. My son’s viewpoint: he loved it. He watched it as many times as a fresh video can be watched and then stopped. A few months later he started requesting it again and dragging his potty chair to the living room to sit on while watching. He started singing the songs when we were out and then decided he was ready to deliver. At 2.5 he stopped using diapers completely, no pull ups and dry through the night (no diapers) . When he has an accident we declare the video song “Accidents Happen”. Now did the video have anything to do with the success of his training? I do not know. Other than making him aware of it and having everything on hand, we were not verbally encouraging him to inaugurate and were not planning on doing that until he reached 3. So in my understanding, engage and expend every tool you can. Something will click.

I am dating myself woefully, but I remember seeing this film when it came out in theatres. I trekked some distance (via bus) down to some theatre in Hollywood (I’m from another piece of L.A.) because it wasn’t showing anywhere nearby. I wanted to glance it *that* awful. And I certainly wasn’t disappointed.

When I finally got a DVD player, one of the first DVDs I got was “Local Hero”. It’s definitely on my “must-have” list.

The chronicle is simple — materialistic Peter Reigert is sent to a itsy-bitsy Scottish village to try to negotiate a land deal for his rich, eccentric boss (Burt Lancaster, who is outstanding) . He arrives in Scotland as a guy who is only obsessed with business deals, his car, and his posessions relieve in Texas, but soon he learns there are more critical things in life. The townsfolk are absolutely improbable, all in their believe recent, eclectic map. Denis Lawson particularly shines as “jack of all trades” who holds several positions in the community, including innkeeper.

The oddness and beauty of this film takes time to unfold, and it is best impartial to sit support and look it happen. Everyone seems to have a account, everyone is eccentric in some procedure. I especially loved Burt Lancaster and his interaction with his “therapist”, who takes the job *far* too seriously. Lancaster plays one of the most likeable and current characters onscreen. Reigert too, is endearing. He so wants to be “normal” that he can’t even admit that he might expend a shampoo for dry or greasy hair. “Normal. EXTRA normal.”, he says, when asked what kind of shampoo he needs. What an uptight guy he seems at first, but he soon mends his ways.

The secure by Sign Knopfler is among one of my favorites too. I can play it and it brings help the whole atmosphere and mood of this film. The musical share played at the ruin of the movie is heart-wrenching and brings wait on the sweetness of the raze of this attractive movie every time I hear it.

Director Bill Forsythe created an absolute gem in this movie. A must-have in *every* film collection. Absolutely capable.

Knox Oil rules Houston. The Knox headquarters tower over the Houston skyline, and KNOX radio brings Houston its weather and traffic picture. Knox Oil is owned by Felix Happer (Burt Lancaster), whose father bought the company from its Scottish-born founder; but unfortunately neglected to change the name to “Happer Oil.” Now Knox Oil needs to score a dwelling for a refinery in Scotland, and the most appropriate situation happens to be a village called Furness, far up on the Northern Scottish cruise. And the Knox people don’t pick no prisoners – they settle to simply go ahead and engage the whole village. The man they’re sending to Scotland to negotiate is Mac MacIntyre (Peter Riegert), whose presumably Scottish roots are going to acquire it easy for him to bond with the locals and finish the deal (actually, his family is from Hungary and changed their names to MacIntyre because “they plan that’s America”) .

Reluctantly Mac takes off (he would mighty have preferred to handle the matter over the wires), bringing an electrically locked briefcase, a perceive beeping a signal for “conference time in Houston,” pictures of his Porsche 930 (“I got migraine headaches when I was aloof driving a Chevy”) and the tough-nosed, textbook negotiating skills of a Texas oil man. He is not very impressed with the backwater ways of Furness at first – although he does instantly peer that there’s “a lotta landscape here.” But slowly and inexorably, his attitude changes. Walking along the beach, his steps grow longer and slower, more contemplative. He starts to earn shells. His business suit makes design for a woolen sweater. And his treasured behold dies a uninteresting death as it tries to signal “conference time in Houston” one last time from its underwater grave. Instead of snappy closing the deal and leaving again, Mac has let the situation obtain to him. And he is beginning to regret what this deal is going to mean for this station – nothing other than its total destruction. It will choose a surprise visit from Felix Happer himself, prompted not by Mac’s reports on the progress of the deal but rather, by his descriptions of the wonders of the Scottish nighttime sky, to bring about a decisive turn of events. For Happer’s fair appreciate is not the oil business but astronomy; and before Mac left, Happer has charged him with the search for a comet because “the constellation of Virgo is very prominent in the sky legal now in Scotland,” wherefore Mac needs to “withhold an examine on Virgo,” to serve Happer realize his lifelong dream, the discovery of “Happer’s Comet.” (“You do know what a comet is? ” the tycoon asks, objective to produce certain. “I feel determined I’d know one if I saw one,” a slightly flabbergasted Mac replies.)

“Local Hero” is one of those movies that choose you not because of the intricacies of their area lines – the narrative moves along at a languid perambulate, almost tricking you into believing that there is no site to instruct of at all – nor does it require its participants to expose acting skills, Hollywood style. It does, however, require them to be human; no silver conceal champions but everyday heroes: “local” heroes, that is; the guys next door, ordinary people. There is, for example, Gordon Urquhart (Denis Lawson), the village’s innkeeper, accountant and general spokesperson who, while negotiating a tough deal on behalf of the village population, also hosts Mac and, by introducing him to the “local ways,” inevitably has a astronomical hand in changing Mac’s attitude. There is Danny Oldsen (Peter Capaldi), Mac’s Knox Oil companion from Aberdeen, who falls in fancy with a local marine biologist (Jenny Seagrove) with her enjoy designs for Furness Bay, which have nothing to do with a refinery and everything with the bay’s preservation. There is Viktor (Christopher Rozycki), a fisherman from Murmansk who has discovered capitalism on the remote Scottish North Sea shores and routinely stops by to visit his friends there and check in on the investments Gordon Urquhart has made for him. There is Reverend Macpherson (Gyearbuor Asante), who despite his last name is about as Scottish as the Lone Star in the Texas flag, but whose erstwhile presumably African accent, after years of living in Furness, has nevertheless taken an unmistakably Scottish tinge. And there is the local villagefolk; wily, earthbound, unpretentious and hard working, nevertheless almost over-eager to cash in; and far from stubbornly clinging to their roots, soon finding themselves discussing the relative merits of a Rolls Royce and a Maserrati (measured by the cars’ respective utility in transporting sheep) and musing that “it ain’t easy being rich.” Except, that is, for Ben Knox (!) (Fulton Mackay), who owns an considerable fragment of the beach and who will not give up the land given to an ancestor of his by the king himself for “turning a thing for him” (killing the king’s brother) centuries ago; not even for the promise of a couple of miles of pristine beach in Hawaii.

The movie’s dialogue is as unpretentious and understated as it is witty – Glasgow-born director Bill Forsyth was responsible for the script, too, and it shows. But the film’s single most outstanding feature is nature itself; the rugged cliffs, endless and ever-changing skies, windswept, forlorn beaches and stormy sea of Scotland’s northern flit. And the brooding, gloomy mood of those beaches, cliffs, misty glens and mountains is perfectly captured by the music unruffled by another son of Scotland, Ticket Knopfler (like Forsyth born in Glasgow), whose very first film accept remains one of his most poignant and best-known to date – there probably isn’t a Knopfler fan out there who doesn’t instantly study the movie’s theme song “Going Home,” even if he has never seen the movie itself. “Local Hero” is Forsyth’s and Knopfler’s declaration of adore to their native land; a humble, evocative appeal for its preservation which merits every bit of attention it has (belatedly) received.

This was one of those books that I knew was going to upset me but I had to read it. Ms. Wolf makes a strong case that we are at the brink of losing our democracy; it is justifiable to compare the original neo-conservative movement in America to past repressive regimes. Some of her points:

Buy,Download, Or Stream The End of America: Director’s Cut! Click Here

Black Water, the vigilante group with billions of dollars in their war chest has the ability to acquire down third world governments and yet owes no allegiance to our constitution.

Countless laws have been broken by our White House and yet no one is held accountable (illegal wire tapping of Americans; misleading Americans into the Iraqi war; torture; outing a CIA agent for political gain; etc.)

Buy,Download, Or Stream The End of America: Director’s Cut! Click Here

Corporations controlling all our media and therefore the budge of information “We The People” receive.

The tampering of our free elections (voter machine fraud, the Supreme Court illegally over riding our democracy and appointing George Bush President; the selective removal of Americans from voting lists; etc.)

Ms. Wolf’s point is that these attacks are done boldly and deliberatly to frighten and intimidate Americans into doing nothing.

I found this book to be most horrid because most Americans aren’t even aware that there is a dilemma. There is a deliberate disappear in this country to wipe out middle class America (unaffordable educatuion, the waste of pensions, the attempt of President Bush to convince Americans that Social Security is bad; unaffordable health insurance, etc.) I hope this DVD release acts as a wake up call to all Americans.

I disfavor the Bush administration as grand as anyone, thank god he’s outta there, but this film is honest procedure too biased. I had a feeling that the author was cherry picking events and give it her possess interpretation that supports a vastly biased agenda, she’s distinct to paint the Bush administration as horrible as Hitler’s Nazis reign. While I do reflect that it was a tiring,, insensitive administration and had a nefarious advance to how it would govern this country and poorly weaved its representation to the rest of the world, I don’t mediate they were as faulty as the film portrayed them to be. It was stretching it a bit too far, and that downplayed its credibility a bit for me. Even though I wanted to like it, my skepticism changed only a minute by the time the movie was over.

However, there were proper moments in the film though, and I found myself nodding along side it at definite parts. I wouldn’t say that this is a “must-see”, but it’s definitely more thought-provoking and exciting than your average small-town theater flick.

Not certain why all the attention was on Blackwater while Dick Cheney’s Halliburton got off scotch-free, and it was unprejudiced as shady as Blackwater, if not more.
